Random Photos of the Week (this isn't a constant thing)

William "Earl" Early Weimar reads the Sunday morning paper in his favorite chair. Earl was born Aug 25, 1885 and married his wife when he was 25 in Hale County, Texas on Aug 24, 1909. He passed away in Salem, Oregon in October of 1978.

Ruth Ann Weimar poses for the camera with her glasses about the same time as the picture above. Ruth was the wife of Earl Weimar, whom she married at the age of 17 after knowing Earl only 3 days. To put her son, Harry, through college, she used to take in laundry from the community. She was one of several brothers and sisters. Her father was John Wylie Rhine, son of Albert Rhine and Elizabeth Cox. Her mother was Miriam Addora Willard, the daughter of Thomas W. Willard and his wife Ruth. Ruth Ann may have been named after her grandmother, Ruth Allen C. Reynolds, a descendant of Quaker parents.

Although Ruth tried several times to give her husband more than one child, only one son was given to them who was born on Apr 20, 1911 whom they named Harry Earl Weimar. Harry's middle name "Earl" was used after his father. Harry married his college sweetheart Mary Delphine Hinck (descendant of the Illinois Bosticks) on Jul 27, 1945 in Carson City, Nevada. During Harry's life he had the opportunity to take part in the construction of one of the first ever golf clubs in the California desert and now famous Thunderbird Country Club in Palm Springs, California which has hosted homes of prominent entertainers and high class members of society alike including: Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz and their children, Phil Harris *pictured above (in middle) with Ralph Singer (on left) and Harry E. Weimar (on right)* and Alice Faye, Fmr. President Gerald Ford, Fmr. President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Fmr. President Richard M. Nixon, Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Randolph Scott, and many others. Perhaps the most odd point to make about Harry's golf was his handicap against other golfers. In college Harry was in an automobile accident causing him to lose his right arm. Being right handed, he had to re-learn how to do everything with his one and only left arm. Harry passed away on the 24th of October 1985 in Santa Barbara, California, just after seeing the birth of his grandson, Mark Hatting (1984- ) and living a very full life.
